VP, People (Human Resources)

A Company Liferay is a uniquely profitable open source software company with 850+ fiery-eyed employees scattered across the known world. Our flagship product is Liferay Digital Experience Platform which companies like HP, Barclays, and Coach use to build great web experiences for their customers and employees. Along with making cool software, we have a greater-than-profit vision that fuels us. We give employees 5 days paid off to volunteer at charities they're excited about and we donate a portion of our profits to various charities around the world each year. Oh, we're also self-funded which gives us the freedom to work on whatever we think brings the most value to customers and communities in the long run. A Role Liferay is seeking a seasoned professional who is able to lead the global People team of 20  as we continue to cultivate a world-class environment for people to do great work. The VP of People will report to the executive board and be a key voice in developing Liferay's most valuable asset - its people.  Below are some sample projects, but we're really looking for someone who can analyze our strengths and weaknesses and, with humility, help steer Liferay through the next wave of growth. A Story Now come with me on a journey. I'm going to paint a picture of Liferay as it is now, and what Liferay could be with you. We're bursting at the seams; we've had double digit growth in profit and employee count for the last several years. We have an incredible culture and often hear things like "Liferay feels like family" and "I've never worked anywhere with people so friendly." But there are also pain points. Most of our managers were promoted from specialist roles and need help setting clear goals for their teams. We have amazing talent, but want to be better at helping each person create a customized growth plan that taps into their unique strengths. We've gone from a handful of people working on their laptops in a living room without furniture, to a company of 850+ people in 22 offices globally. Since a lot of our growth has been organic, there are inefficiencies. Some we see (like the fact that HR used to have to approve all time off requests. We stopped that - it added no value) and others we don't quite understand (like why is our average time to fill 127 days, when our goal is 90 days?). There isn't a very clear on-boarding process for all global employees. Many new hires are thrown in the deep end and expected to thrive; most do, but it wastes a lot of time as they search for basic processes. Now fast forward to the end of 2019. You've been here for a year. You've built strong relationships with the senior leadership. You've also started putting in place the scaffolding for Liferay to scale to new heights. The global HR team now makes decisions based on data, not just hunches, because of your mentorship and help setting up the data gathering process. Each office is vibrant and healthy, perhaps with the exception of a few that have deeper rooted issues (which you're addressing). At least 75% of employees now have customized career growth plans and most managers are setting clear goals for their teams. Managers see their primary role as making their people effective and succession planning is something consciously done by leaders. People are talking about Liferay at dinner parties as an amazIng place to work. Employees are growing and producing amazing products and customers are sending us boxes of caramel filled chocolate because our products are a delight to use (or nice emails are fine too, just not as delicious). It's the beginning of a new era, but the journey is only getting better. We're glad you're a part of the Liferay family. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
