This is an office position.

BASIC JOB PURPOSE:
Under the supervision of the Dispatch Supervisor, the Dispatcher has the primary role responsible for inbound/outbound call taking and the scheduling of trips with a vendor or vehicle.
Dispatchers are expected to demonstrate extensive communication skills and to exercise considerable judgment under pressure.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require evening and/or weekend work.
The position requires long periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting at least 25 lbs.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES include but not limited to:
1.
Handles inbound and outbound calls with tact, skill, and compassion.
2.
Processes cancellations and passenger no shows and notifies drivers or vendors when necessary.
3.
Documents information in the system relevant to calls and interactions.
4.
Confirms driver estimated time of arrival by request from passenger or the call center.
5.
Processes request to activate an unscheduled reservation and coordinates with the driver or vendor to dispatch a vehicle.
6.
Provides excellent customer service, consistent with the company brand, to passengers, clients, vendors, and to the call center.
7.
Adapts to fluctuations in the transportation network, policies, and work volume changes.
8.
Screens calls for access to passenger accounts, handles confidential information as expected by company policy, and limits conversations to only relevant information to complete a task.
9.
Maintains a high level of accuracy with all aspects of the position.
10.
Assigns same day trips on a trip-by-trip basis assigning trips to the vendor network based on the vendor's documented coverage area, contracted service types, and daily maximum trip assignment cap by using company guides, matrices, and systems.
11.
Understands the geography of service areas.
12.
Schedules reservations for 1) all services when the caller is a medical professional working at a doctor's office, medical facility, hospital, or skilled nursing facility and 2) ambulance and gurney reservations from any call source.
13.
Assigns same day gurney and ambulance reservations on an individual trip basis to the vendor network, provides trip details by phone and ensures the vendor accesses the online trip manifest.
14.
Imports trips to the fleet dispatch system.
15.
Any other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, skills and abilities:
1.
Must pass a Criminal Background Screening.
2.
Must pass government exclusion list at time of hire and monthly thereafter.
3.
Advanced experience using PC software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.
), Dispatch Scheduling Software, and Call Center Agent Application.
4.
1 year experience in the call center, transportation industry, logistics, and/or dispatch required.
5.
Able to type at least 45 wpm.
6.
Availability to work flexible hours during Weekdays, Weekends & Holidays.

Call the Car's sole reason for being is to provide non-emergency medical transportation for our members to meet their medical needs.
As such, we fall under the umbrella of a healthcare provider as recognized by the state of California.
